Facilities
The four floors are each divided into four suites. Each floor is co-ed but the suites are not. The suites have 5 rooms (2 singles and 3 doubles) and a bathroom with two stalls, two sinks, and a shower. Each double has 2 beds, 1 under-bed storage unit with two large drawers, 2 desks with a built-in light and shelf, 2 chairs, 2 small wardrobes, 1 floor lamp, and 2 closets. Each floor has one kitchen with a microwave, oven, small fridge, and cabinets. The first floor only has 3 suites but it also has a large TV lounge, a conference room, and mailboxes. The basement features a laundry room with 3 washers and 3 dryers, a practice/computer room with a piano and 2 computers, and a large common area with a pool table, TV, XBOX, stereo system, and board games.
Weekly Events
We have weekly intramural games in the evenings (Fall: flag football, volleyball, dodgeball Winter: basketball, hockey Spring: softball, ultimate frisbee, softball). Every Tuesday we have a fellows lunch in the PARC dining room in Allison Dining Hall where you can mingle and eat with professors and faculty associated with PARC. Wednesday nights we have munchies in the TV room, free food from Evanston restaurants like Joy Yee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Papa John’s, and Chipotle. Thursday nights we have Coffee and Conversation a discussion about current hot topics like elections, popular articles, and Northwestern issues.
Other Events
Nearly every week, our academic chairs schedule Firesides with NU professors. A fireside is when a professor or sometimes graduate students come to PARC and give a short presentation about any topic they want! Some of our popular fireside topics range from Chicago history to current election predictions. We also have a formal in the fall, a great opportunity for PARCers to get together, dance, and have some fun! We participate in monthly philanthropy events like Supplies for Dreams, fundraisers, Campus Kitchens, Dance Marathon, Relay for Life, and NU Gives Back Day. We also participate in RCB Field Day, a huge competition between the all the res colleges that includes the Master’s Mile, Tug of War, Human Foosball, and much more!
